The Truth About Medicinal Herbs for Skin
June 26th, 2009 | Posted in Herbal Medicine | No Comments »
The big trend in recent years has been toward all natural and organic cosmetics. Chemicals are a thing of the past in skin care and medicinal herbs for skin are “in”. There have been hundreds of companies changing their formulas to “go green”.
This is producing a lot of misleading claims with this new trend. If you do a little research you will be surprised to find that not all herbal skin care products are natural or organic.
Like me you probably think the truth in advertising policies make it impossible for companies to lie about their ingredients. Companies don't have to lie, they just have to hedge the truth a little.
It is a well known fact that they can advertise their products as having medicinal herbs for skin in them without really having a high enough concentration of these ingredients to be beneficial. They probably have some of these beneficial herbs in them. The catch is they are in minuscule l amounts . Their benefits are lost.
Low concentrations of these valuable ingredients cost less. With a tiny amount of them they can claim to have herbal skin care products. In actuality their products contain waxes and fillers to make their profit margin a lot higher.
When you choose products be sure they have substantial herbal and plant based ingredients.
Medicinal herbs for skin that have a beneficial effect would be...
1. basil
2. sandalwood
3. avocado extract
4. shea butter
5. active Manuka honey from New Zealand
These ingredients have been used for thousands of years in skin care products. They all help to restore and rejuvenate skin. All of them are also organic and natural.
When looking for herbal skin care products, avoid formulas with parabens, fragrances, or any allergens of any kind. These are not true natural substances.
There is a good test you can use when trying to decide on herbal skin care products. Ask yourself if you could eat what is on the ingredient list?
This is not as strange as it sounds. What goes on your body also goes in your body due to natural absorption.
Don't be fooled by companies that say their products contain medicinal herbs for skin. Read the label carefully, check the percentages of the ingredients, and be informed when you buy. If you don't recognize the name of an ingredient it is probably a man made chemical or filler.
Now you know the truth...
Not all herbal skin care products are truly as natural or organic as they might lead you to believe.
The products that I use and promote on my website are not filled with chemical clutter or cheap fillers, but contain more active ingredients than other products that I have found on the market.
These products have changed my life and I hope they can change yours too. I’m not a doctor, medical expert, or a dermatologist……I’m just looking for products that actually work without spending a fortune.
If you have unwanted wrinkles, fine lines, puffy eyes, damaged skin, or a skin disorder such as acne or rosacea……
